The assets of SagaCity Media, a leading publisher of lifestyle magazines and influential digital media brands across the United States, have been acquired by Hour Media, a diversified media company headquartered in Michigan. The transaction included SagaCity’s custom publishing division as well.
Dirks, Van Essen & April, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented SagaCity Media and its representatives in the transaction.
This transaction brings together two highly regarded media organizations with complementary portfolios of print and digital publications. SagaCity Media’s award-winning titles, including Seattle Met, Portland Monthly, Houstonia, Aspen Sojourner, Vail-Beaver Creek Magazine and Park City Magazine, are the definitive sources of local lifestyle content in each of their markets. These brands currently hold the largest market share for print, web and social media in their competitive sets and now join Hour Media’s expanding national collection of regional lifestyle brands.
The acquisition follows a strategic restructuring period for SagaCity Media, which filed for receivership in King County, Washington, in November 2025. This court-ordered process allowed for a professional third party to manage the company’s operations and facilitate this sale, ensuring the uninterrupted continuity of its publications and digital platforms.
Hour Media is the largest publisher of city and regional magazines in the United States. The company publishes and produces more than 180 magazines and custom titles, 50 consumer websites, and 70 shows and events.
Its numerous magazine titles include Atlanta Magazine, Boca Raton Magazine, Cincinnati Magazine, DBusiness Magazine, Delray Beach Magazine, Emerald Coast Magazine, Florida Design, Grand Rapids Magazine, Hour Detroit, Indianapolis Monthly, Jupiter Magazine, Minnesota Monthly, Naples Illustrated, Palm Beach Illustrated, Salt Lake City Magazine, Stuart Magazine, Tallahassee Magazine and Vero Beach Magazine.
